"I remember my first experience in confronting a painting in the 1985 National Art Gallery Open Show (Malaysia). The painting undeniably had a presence which attracted immediate attention. Here was something familiar, yet with a refreshing personality and stamp of individuality."

"Every work of art has its genealogy. In this painting, the dancing lines remind one of Pollock while the swatches and cleavages of form and space are obviously inherited from de Kooning. The American flavor was there - loud and strong, yet there was a uniqueness about it. Who was this artist?"

- Syed Ahmad Jamal, Malaysian Artist, 1989.
